SkyMapper filters effective wavelengths

SkyMapper filters effective wavelengths

  By: Георгий Гончаров on June 21, 2021, 2:48 p.m.

Hi! Which are the SkyMapper filters effective wavelengths? I cannot find them in the documentation. PARSEC (http://stev.oapd.inaf.it/cgi-bin/cmd) suggests some, but they provide strange results.

Thanks in advance,

George Gontcharov

Dear George,

the PARSEC effective wavelengths are certainly redward of the values tabulated in the SVO, but I'm not sure if that's just due to the difference in weighting when using a G2V star (as in PARSEC) vs. Vega (in the SVO), or if there's a problem in PARSEC (although I see they cite the SVO as their source, too). The SVO values are derived from the filter curves we published in Bessell et al. (2011), so they should be reliable:

Does that help?
