Re: Star index for stars?

  By: Christopher Onken on July 6, 2021, 12:54 p.m.

Dear Chiara,

the CLASS_STAR we include in the master table is the maximum value reported by Source Extractor from any image of that object. It's well documented that CLASS_STAR trends towards 0.5 as the signal-to-noise gets low, s...

Re: SkyMapper filters effective wavelengths

  By: Christopher Onken on June 22, 2021, 3:07 p.m.

Dear George,

the PARSEC effective wavelengths are certainly redward of the values tabulated in the SVO, but I'm not sure if that's just due to the difference in weighting when using a G2V star (as in PARSEC) vs. Vega (in the SVO), or if...

Re: Skymapper is useful to study galactic globular clusters

  By: Christopher Onken on May 28, 2021, 3:20 p.m.

Dear George,

we would hope that the Australian collaborator(s) would be contributing to the research, but the extent of that involvement is up to you to decide together. The only obligations are not to compete with the couple of remaining ...

Re: Skymapper is useful to study galactic globular clusters

  By: Christopher Onken on May 21, 2021, 8:46 a.m.

Dear George,

DR3 does provide much more sky coverage in u and v down to ~19.5 mag compared to DR2 (see the attached v-band map, where the darker colours indicate deeper photometry; the u-band map is similar). We expect ...

Re: No access to DR2 data

  By: Christopher Onken on April 4, 2021, 2:29 p.m.

Unfortunately, we are currently having problems with our VO services, including the Cone Search. We hope to have the services restored early in the coming week.

In the meantime, two options I can suggest are:

1) If you only need sources brig...

Re: TAP access to dr2.master

  By: Christopher Onken on Nov. 10, 2020, 3:59 p.m.

Hi Rodolfo,

try again now. For your query, I get 3220 sources returned in less than 19 seconds.

Let us know if you have any further problems.

Re: TAP access to dr2.master

  By: Christopher Onken on Nov. 10, 2020, 9:57 a.m.

Dear Rodolfo,

that table had not been indexed in the right way to support spatial queries in Galactic coordinates, but I'm building that index now. I'll post an update when that's ready.

Also, I found that the...

Re: Photometric calibration, magnitudes, etc.

  By: Christopher Onken on April 2, 2020, 11:19 a.m.

Hi Artur,

1) Are the fits images calibrated and sky-subtracted in each band?

  • The images provided by the cutout service have been calibrated in the sense of being bias-subtracted, flat-fielded, and defringed (where appropriate). ...

Re: crossmatch dr1p1_fs_photometry table with a list of known targets

  By: Christopher Onken on June 12, 2018, 4:46 p.m.

[Edited March 2019 to reflect updated URLs]

The best way to currently match a large list of objects against any SkyMapper table is to use TOPCAT's Multicone join feature. First, load your list into TOPCAT, then open the Joins->Multicone ...
